Abstract:
Furfural is used as an aromatics extraction agent in the slurry oil aromatics extration process. Its purity % weight/weight is required to be greater than 98%. In this analysis, compounds in an industrial grade furfural were separated and detected under the optimized GC/MS conditions. With The aid of mass spectrum library searching, ten peaks were identified. They were furan, 2,5-dihydrofuran, 2(SH)-furanone, furfural, 5-methyl-2(SH)-furanone, 1-(2- furanyl)ethanone, 5-methylfurfural, 5-ethylfurfural, 5 -methy I -2 -prop tony I furane and 2 -(4- methy 1- 2 - fury I ) -2 -cyelopenten- 1 -one. These compounds were quantified approximately.
