Abstract
The technology of the determination of boron in high purity quartz by isotope dilution ICP MS was reported in this paper. In airproof vessel, sample was dissolved by acid at a proper temperature, so sample and spike mixing was well and the losing of boron was little. In the alkaline solution, boron was in the form of B(OH) 4 - which can be absorbed by boron specific ion exchange resin, so boron was separated from the great mass of matrix and the matrix effect of ICP MS was insignificant. The results of GSD 4, GSD 8 and high purity quartz indicate good accuracy and precision, and the detection limit was 51.7 ng/g. So ID ICP MS was a perfect technique to determine trace boron.
