A Heavy Ion Desorption Mass Spectrometer

  • This paper gives a brief description about the principle and structure of heavy iondesorption mass spectrometer (HIDMS) developed in recent times. Ionization is realizedin the source by bombarding the sample with fast heavy ions resulting from ~(252)Cf oraccelerator to desorbing the molecule, then the mass spectra are obtained from a time offlight mass spectrometer. HIDMS is a powerful tool for studying the biomolecule, Someapplied examples in the field are also reviewed.
