Extraction and GC/MS Analysis of Volatile Oil from Polygonum Cuspidatum

  • Orthogonal design of 4 factors at 3 levels was applied for hydrodistillation method of volatile oil from Polygonum Cuspidatum. The optimal condition of extraction was the medicinal materials being dipped in 7 times water for 4 h and then distilled 12 h by vapor. The volatile oil was analyzed by GC/MS, and twenty compounds were identified. The main components in the oil of Polygonum Cuspidatum included thiophenes(38.09 %), phenanthrenes(4.78%), fluorenes(3.81%), biphenyls(3.47%), anthracenes(2.92%) and naphthalenes(2.27%).
