An Imoroved GC/MS Interface and the Application to the Determination of PAH

Abstract
A simple ar, d low-price GC/MS interface has been developed and utilized to measure PAHs in airborne particulate samples. Samples were collected on glass fiber filters using volumn sampier. The filters were ultrasonie-extrtcted using benzene' and extractable matter was isolated on silica gel and sephadex LH—20 column chromatography. The PAH fraction was concentrated and injected into the GC/MS system. More than 30 PAHs were identified and 12 PAHs were quantitated in air sample,The limit of detection is 0.5—2ng. The linear range is 1—2000ng. The recoveries are varied between 75.3—98.5%. The standard deviation is 1.7—7.9%.
