Determination of Piperazinylethylestrone by Electron Ionization Mass Spectrometry and Fast-atom Bombardment Mass Spectrometry

Abstract
Piperazinylethylestrone is a new synthetic compound that can be used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and other diseases caused by osteoporosis. Electron ionization mass spectrometry (EI-MS) and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry (FAB (-)-MS) were used for the elucidations of its structure and fragmentation pathway. The ion peaks m/z 404M+Na-H-, 382M-, 381M-H- were detected by FAB(-)-MS; m/z 382 M+• was detected by EI-MS; m/z 383M+H+ was detected by ESI-MS and the molecular formula of piperazinylethylestrone could be assigned as C24H34N2O2. Furthermore, the fragmentation pathway of piperazinylethylestrone was also explained.
