Principles, Applications and Progress of Mass Spectrometric Ion Guides

  • Ion guides are efficient ion transmission settings. In mass spectrometric apparatus, an ion guide is one of the major parts of ion optics, which connects the ionization source in low vacuum (or ambient atmosphere) and mass analyzer. Ion guides are used to transport ions with high efficiency, while reducing the spatial and energetic distribution. In this paper, we will review the principles, applications and progress of some conventional used ion guides, and anticipate its future development.
