Abstract
The elemental speciation has a close relationship with its toxicity and biological activity. Recent years, capillary electrophoresis-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (CE-ICP-MS) has developed quickly and become a powerful technique to analyze the element speciation. The interface issues about the CE combining with the ICP-MS were described. And then the merits and weaknesses of several interfaces and aerosol control units are discussed. The progress of element speciation analysis in environment by CEICPMS hyphenated techniques was further expatiated. The potential limitations and trends of the CE-ICP-MS hyphenated techniques in elements speciation analysis were explained, and dissected in detail.
