Abstract
Although the cases of deaths from heroin intoxication are increasing, the distribution of mor- phine(MOR) in delayed death has not been reported. Few attention has been devoted to the use of hair as a sample for detection of illicit drugs in our country. this paper presents the distribution of morphine in two cases of delayed death and the detection of morphine and 6- acetylmorphine (MAM) in hair specimens collected from 7 cases. After hydrolysis and ex- traction, MOR and MAM were derivatized with acetic anhydride or BSTFA and their derivatives were qualitatively and qualitatively analyzed using GC/MS-SIM. the results indicate that urine, bile and liver are the best choice in heroin-related deaths. But the advantage of hair specimen is to have 6-MAM detected in a longer time compared to biological fluids.
