The competitive reaction of Mclafferty rearrangement and β cleavage is existence when aromatic compounds are ionized by electron.The abundance of fragment ion can be changed with difference of structure of aromatic compounds.When the structure of fragment ion can not be stabilized causing β cleavage,the main reaction will be Mclafferty rearrangement.According to the these we can identify some position isomer of aromatic compounds.
