Applications of Organic Mass Spectrometry in Structure Identification of an Impurity Compound in Prepared Mangiferin Extracted from Mangifera indica L. leaves

  • An impurity compound in prepared mangiferin extracted from Mangifera indica L. leaves was isolated by high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC). Its structure was identified by HR-ESI (-)-MS/MS and further confirmed by NMR spectroscopic studies. Based on the spectral data, the molecular structure of the impurity is identified as 2-C-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1, 6, 7-trihydroxy-3-methoxy-xanthen-9-one. The fragmentation behaviors of mangiferin and the impurity are proposed.
