Abstract: Laser plasma mass spectra of a series of rock samples have been recorded on a selfbuilt instrument at first time. With analysis of the spectra, the compositions of the samples can be determined. From the experiment procedure and analysis results described in this paper, the advantages of the analysis technique were well characterized. The problems of this technique and the ways to improve them have also been discussed.
