Abstract: Recent Advances in Mass Spectrometry of Polypeptides and ProteinsChen Shaonong (Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Lanzhou 730000,China) Pan Yuanjiang; Chen Yaozu (State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000,China) Abstract:Structural analysis of polypeptides and proteins has been performed by chemical and biochemical degradation methods. Recently the use of mass spectmmetry for this purpose has increased considerably. In present paper,the recent advances in application of new mass spectrometric techniques such as fast atom bombardment ionization,tandem mass spectrometry, electrospray mass spectrometry etc to molecular weight determination and sequence analysis of polypeptides and proteins have been briefly reviewed.
